Our workforce

Leah started working within adult learning disabilities, however when the opportunity came up to work with children and young people she jumped at the chance to apply.

CAMHS Worker

"I have always wanted to work with children and young people with Learning Disabilities and believe that good physical and mental health underpins quality of life." Since qualifying as a nurse, Leah had remained supporting adults until a role within child and family became available and she jumped at the opportunity to apply.

Leah is a Community Learning Disability Nurse within JIGSAW (Children's Learning Disability Service). " I support children and young people along several pathways to ensure their healthcare needs are met." Leah's work as a Learning Disability Nurse involves supporting the children in many areas such as sleep, toilet training, behaviour concerns, desensitisation, weight management, puberty and keep safe.

What Leah loves most about working in CAMHS is making a difference to the child and family. "When you support a family and the intervention works because everyone is doing what is suggested as this can then have a major positive impact to the child's quality of life."

Good physical and mental health underpins quality of life.
