Social worker
About the role...
Social workers may be employed by CAMHS in their capacity as a Social Worker (Year 2 and beyond) where their main role is to be the conduit between CAMHS and Children’s Services, support and lead with Safeguarding within teams and the organisation.
As a social worker you will work with children and their families and carers. Meeting with children and their families to review needs and make support plans and to help children develop and maintain independent living skills is primary in this role. Along with keeping them safe and working closely with communities, health professionals and other agencies.
What qualifications do I need?
You need 2 or 3 A levels for a degree in social work or you can do a social worker level 6 degree apprenticeship which takes around 3 years.
Social work qualification can allow for working within all areas of the CAMHS community and in patient services.
What experience do I need to bring?
Good counselling skills including active listening and a non-judgemental approach and to be sensitivity and understanding along with knowledge of sociology and an understanding of society and culture. Volunteering and experience with Child and Young people is an advantage.
