About the team...
Nurses / Mental health practitioners working in this area have the opportunity to combine both physical health and mental health skills and knowledge, working with children and young people who may present with a variety of wide- ranging presentations, relating to eating disorder cognitions, weight loss, gain, bulimia, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). Many of these young people need their physically health closely monitoring alongside assessment and treatment of their mental health. The ability to work closely with the wider system supporting the young person, including GP, primary and tertiary care are important. As well as providing psychoeducation, therapeutic interventions for the CYP and family and supporting admission to and discharge from Tier 4 / Inpatient units.
