About the role...
Heads of service have usually either progressed through the NHS Administration route or they have entered into the NHS bringing vast experience in managing staff, knowing budgetary controls, how to handle projects and lead a team as well as having built a comprehensive understanding of national and local NHS standards.
A Head of service in business administration can be working in many areas such as performance, risk, assurance, transformation, human resources, learning and development, finance, quality etc.
