Roles in CAMHS

Learning disability team

About the team...

Learning disability (LD) nurses work with young people who have moderate to profound intellectual developmental disability. The LD team work with children and young people who present with mental health problems and/or behaviours of concern or who require specialist assessment. The LD team work with children and their families/carers to support them to manage behaviours of concern while building on the child or young person’s skills

Learning disability nurses will have completed training to support and enable people with a learning disability, in a wide variety of settings. Common for all is the training centred on understanding the impact of a learning disability on the individual and using that knowledge to make reasonable adjustments to support clients to reach their full potential.
