Psychiatric liaison team
About the team...
This is a CAMHS role supporting children and young people (CYP) who attend an acute hospital with a mental health need, there may also be a physical health presentation requiring treatment; perhaps relating to restricted eating or self- injurious behaviours. Clinicians are experts in assessment and risk management. Able to build meaningful relationships quickly for brief interventions at a time of crisis for the Child/young person and their family. They support decision making alongside staff in the hospital and are the conduit between acute and community services in the development of Care Plans and any future interventions that may be required. They support education and training for staff in the hospital in relation to young people’s mental health and management and act as advocates to promote the children’s needs are best met.
