Progressing in the NHS is encouraged and through additional qualifications, added experience, secondments, mentoring and coaching, individuals can successfully progress through the Agenda for Change framework and progress to senior leaders and very senior managers.

The NHS has many tools and programmes to assist in this progression and everyone is encouraged to talk about their desired progression at their appraisals and supervision discussions.
